A message from Mayor Ted Kozlowski
Stillwater, MN
From the desk of the Mayor:
Greetings from Stillwater, the Birthplace of Minnesota! The City of Stillwater is excited to join forces with the Greater Stillwater Chamber of Commerce Foundation, and we're thrilled to host the World Snow Celebration, set to take place from January 15th-26thth, 2025.
In this edition, anticipate the creativity of 12 teams converging from various corners of the globe at Lowell Park. Against the backdrop of the scenic winter landscape along the historic St. Croix River, they'll craft awe-inspiring snow sculptures.
A warm welcome awaits the teams representing Turkey, Finland, France, the UK, Canada, Mexico, Ecuador, Florida, North Dakota, and Minnesota! Spectators are not just observers; they're invited to witness the entire snow sculpting process, interact with the teams, cast votes for their favorites, and immerse themselves in a week filled with social events, activities, and ceremonies.
As you soak in the Championship week, explore a diverse array of unique shops and establishments. Stillwater invites you to its charming historic district, radiating warmth during the winter months. Situated on the Minnesota/Wisconsin border of the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway, just beyond Minneapolis/St. Paul, our river town has flourished since its incorporation in 1854.
Over 181 years, Stillwater has upheld its character and reputation as the quintessential Minnesota getaway. The undeniable charm and relaxed riverside ambiance extend from the grounded community to the bluffs above.
Recognized as one of America’s Most Picturesque Small Towns and Best Small Town Food Scenes by USA Today Travel, Stillwater encourages you to explore its numerous restaurants, pubs, and over 40 locally-owned shops during your stay. Take a leisurely stroll through this enchanting Midwest escape, crossing the recently renovated historic St. Croix River Crossing Loop Trail. Marvel at the Lift Bridge, one of the few in operation in the country, adorned with winter lights—a beloved icon of our town.
Today, Stillwater's rich and vibrant history is celebrated year-round, drawing visitors from around the world. We take pride in preserving our history and natural beauty while embracing new experiences, from hotels to attractions like distilleries and electric bike rentals, culminating in events like the World Snow Sculpting Championship.
We hope your visit is not just enjoyable but leaves you feeling like a local during your time here!
Sincerely,
Ted Kozlowski
Mayor of Stillwater
